  • There's only so much a person's brain can hold right?!

David Robinson: my favorite basketball player of all time. "Why?" do you ask? His testimony man.

The Admiral splits time between the Carver Academy, church and family

    David Robinson: The Family Guy

    by Grant Fuller, spurs.com

    excerpt (full article here: http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/robinson_feature_050808.html):

...In addition to spending time with David Jr., Corey and Justin, Robinson is now able to devote more attention to a couple endeavors he was involved with before retirement: the Carver Academy for underprivileged youth and Max Lucado’s Oak Hills Church.

Robinson and his wife Valerie helped establish the Carver Academy in downtown San Antonio, and they are now more active than ever in school operations and funding as enrollment is expected to reach 120 next year. And Robinson, the quintessential man of faith, humbly claims that “the only thing” he does for Oak Hills is lead a weekly men’s bible study that draws a crowd of at least 200 every time. With the newfound ability to attend church services every week, Robinson relishes his leadership position, and appropriately compares his bible study to a locker room like the ones in which he spent so many years as a spiritual model for his Spurs teammates....

Jury finds Vioxx maker liable, awards $253 million
    excerpt (full story here: http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/19/news/fortune500/vioxx/index.htm?cnn=yes):

Merck has been held liable by a Texas jury in the first lawsuit involving its former blockbuster drug Vioxx, in a case that could have a profound effect on thousands of other cases filed against the company. Plaintiff Carol Ernst has won her lawsuit in Texas Superior Court, which blames Vioxx for the 2001 death of her husband, Robert Ernst, a 59-year-old marathon runner and Wal-Mart worker who was taking the arthritis painkiller at the time of his death. Ernst died of a heart attack.

Why do I write about Israel?

#1) God's leading on my family has given me a start at truly understanding the Jews, and it has placed an unexpected burden for them in my heart (the same way I have a burden for the lost in general).

#2) Awareness. Mah boy Ryan Song is active with LiNK, helping less informed people, like myself, understand the situation in North Korea. In much the same way, I hope to give people, who otherwise wouldn't have it, an awareness and understanding about the nation of Israel and its importance, and an understanding of God's own chosen people, the Jews.

God is sovereign and He knows what He is doing or allowing to happen. When the Jews disobeyed God, they lost land. When they came back to Him, they got it back. So He knows what's going on, and the continued rejection causes Him continued sorrow. Jesus came upon His own, and His own has still received Him not. The Jew is no better than the Gentile, and God has definitely not chosen favorites, but they are a special peoples in His heart. My mom has been praying for the Jews way before the pullout. God has placed different burdens on different people, although yes, we are to love all peoples in the same way with Christ's love. That in itself should come naturally to the Believer.

Israel, the Jews; what's the big deal? The Christian church needs a great awakening.

  • good luck on mcats ro.. =) you'll be fine..

  • Mr. Robinson, walking by faith...sweet.

  • Hey man hows it going? Your last entry really was touching. The jews have always had right to that land because God said it was thers but I never thought about it the way you put. That another reason they deserve to keep their land is because 48 years ago when they established Israel as a nation, blood from their own was shed in that endeavor. I totally agree. Only God knows how all this will play out. And God knows the world will have its eye watching too.

And yeah David robinson is cool. As I understand it he remained a virgin for a long time until he got married.

    Well take it easy

    God bless.

  • Amen Ro.  Hope to see you and all the lovely RESET ppl at the concert.  My heart most definitely goes out to everything going on in Israel.  If only I could divide myself into multiple causes.

  • I also think that as Christians we need to pay attention to what goes on over there and not be ignorant. We also need to pay attention to the history of the Jews. Hmmm....I should take a class or something.

  • Go Ro!!! U can make it....
