On friday night we had our last R.E.S.E.T. meeting of the semester at Richardson 164.
 |
What we celebrated was an entire academic school year of God's goodness and amazing wonders. We praised Him for the unexpected way He used the lowliest of individuals to set His plan in motion. We praised Him for His continual provision in all things, from a place to worship to the food we ate. We thanked Him for the many seeds that were planted, and for the fruits that came out of this ministry. We worshipped our God and gave Him all the glory, honor, and praise, amen. Darrvi's message that night really captured the essence of our fellowship group, and Alana's letters captured the spirit of encouragement and love. Congratulations to R.E.S.E.T., for the efforts and hearts of ministry, for the lives you have touched by the grace of God, for the creative talent and gifts that you all continually offer to our Lord, and for the many, many performances you have worked so hard on, as an offering of praise and a proclamation of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is not the end of R.E.S.E.T. (just the last meeting at Richardson). You best believe that we will continue to do it up over the summer and beyond that. Check the R.E.S.E.T. xanga for times and places for our summer meetings. And look out for upcoming shows, including a June 5th performance in Manhattan for the Philippine Independence Day Parade. Thank you all for the continual prayers, for R.E.S.E.T. and each other. To God be the glory for and in all things, AMEN!* |

.::In the beginning, "R.E.S.E.T. was about 12 people with a hundred different visitors."
Since then, I can honestly say we've grown tremendously, in both number, dedication, and spirit.

Immediately after R.E.S.E.T., Sam worked madd hard on the shirt I was gonna wear for my Culture Shock performance. Much much thanks to my boy Sam, I really appreciate it bro (!!):

The shirt was done just in time for me to get picked up by Pete at 4:30 in the A.M. We dropped off Lana, and then headed down to D.C. Pete got us there in like 2 and a half hours (!) and we arrived at the hall at around 7:30 A.M.

Each dance group was given a dressing room to share, and it was awesome because it was kind of like those rooms actors stay at, with the mirrors and light bulbs around each mirror with tables and stuff. We shared our room with Got Soul NY. Yo,
huge shoutout to Got Soul NY man. I didn't get to see them perform, but knowing them, and seeing their run through, I just know that ya'll killed it out there on stage. I can't wait for the DVD to come out (!!). If any of you Got Soul peoples ever read this, madd thanks for all of you guys's support and encouragement. NY/NJ gotta stick together and keep it real.... So mOshn and Got Soul took madd pics together, like grammar school pics hahhaha. I'll definitely post up the pictures when I steal them from the mOshn girls lol.

There were a couple of pleasant suprises for me yesterday . In the midst of the crowd at the barbeque/cypher, I hear someone yell, "Kuya Rowan! Kuya Rowan!" and what do you know?! It's my labz Ica! (picture on the right). Thanks again Icz for staying and supporting us, along with your girl Emem. I guess this makes up for not being able to come last year lol. I also got to see a couple of people whom I also did not know were going to be there. First I saw Bianca and it was nice to chat with her and catch up on some things, coz yeah, it's been hott minute lol. Then I saw my friend from high school, which was amazing because seriously, I keep in touch with and see absolutely no one from my high school. So it was honestly really great to see Carl, and it was cool coz Carl is a dancer and former breaker himself. I really hope to see some old faces and friends in the near future, I'm missin' my peoples (!!). And wordup, BIG shoutout to Darbz, Jon, and Rex, my boys who held it down at the bboy cypher outside before the show. Ya'll can't mess, and if ya'll didn't know, now you know!!
left pic: me lookin' gay at our dressing room lol, which was like up a million flights of stairs (!). |

The banner wasn't as nice as the one they had last year, but it's all good. It was great though to see Bboy Ivan (a.k.a. the Urban Action Figure) hosting the show (top right pic, with the mic wearing red). Not only is he an ill bboy and dancer, but he is a strong brother in Christ. Darrvi asked him what the Good Word was for the day, and he was like: "POWER." Ivan had the crowd goin' and kept everyone hyped. At one point he was like, "The louder you scream, the faster I spin!" And he proceeded to kill it with headspins. But what was
really incredible was when he had the crowd countdown from 20, and at 1 he ran from stage left and flipped over this long table. Seriously, it was "talagang crasy" (which reminds me of Marq's latest song! lol). So yeah, Culture Shock D.C. blew me away forreal. Words cannot express, you guys just have to see the DVD when it comes out. mOshn didn't place, but the groups that
did place definitely deserved it. Under-A-Groove (Florida) did it up real nice again, and took back 1st place for the 2nd year in a row. This dance group called DYNAMIC tore that stage up and I mean,
tore it up!! I was very impressed (they took 2nd). And Capital Funk took 3rd, doin' it up real nice and like everyone else who placed, were madd on point with their stuff. But I'm givin' it up to mOshn, the "Peoples' Champ" for the most entertaining performance of the night lol. I'm not even gonna start with the feedback from the audience as well as from other dancers. I know you all think we could have done better, and maybe we could have, but we had
fun. And doing it for the love, giving our best, and entertaining the crowd is what we are all about, right?! Mission accomplished. Just remember that feeling at the end of Celine on that last pose, looking up as the lights went down. Remeber the sound.
oh man....

.::sold out crowd of 1500 people. the venue was huge and the stage and lighting effects were so professional;
this is probably the biggest crowd I've ever performed for (pics taken from the stage)::.
I left pretty much after the show ended (I didn't go to the after party). I left with Pete and company. Oh man, we were
all so crazy hungry. I was running on like 2 hours of sleep (off and on type sleep) over 2+ days, and plus I hadn't eaten
anything all day yesterday. I had the biggest headache, and my contacts were drying out. I could take no food but having sleep, or no sleep and having food, but the combo of no sleep and no food will kill me. Nothing was open, but we finally found a McDonalds with an open drive through. I devoured my fish fillet sandwhich, fries, and 10-piece nuggets. Food never tasted so good.

I just want to thank my baby for all her support and prayers (and to my mOsh headz: she had been praying very hard for all of us and for our show). She is my #1 encourager as well as my prayer partner. You guys wanna know how good my hunni is to me?? When I got in at about 3 A.M., she woke up and came all the way to my apartment just to see me

and I got a chance to tell her and Sam about all the stuff that went down this weekend. I love you so much Lana

.... So it's times like this that I look forward to getting better. Is Jersey gonna get it together and come back strong for Culture Shock's 3rd Annual?! We'll see.... I am so proud of my mOshn family. This dance competition showcases only the best on the East Coast, and you all left your hearts out there on the floor. Glory, honor, and all praise to our Lord God Almighty!!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the dedicated, loving, and hard-working mothers out there!!! I praise God for my mother. She's gettin' a card today, and maybe I'll post up picture from our dinner tonight. Takin' my mom and my family to the Round Grill (!!). Thas whussup, and that's all for now. Peace out, one love, and
God bless*
P.S. Please pray for my 2 final exams tomorrow, and please continue to pray for my future, and medical school possibilities. The pressures are mounting more and more every single day.. I am also praying for
you.
