  • Disclaimer: I don't have it all together, I don't have all the answers, I still have much to learn, and I really am a sinner of sinners. Please forgive me if I sound proud, harsh, or judgmental- I d

on't mean to be, and I would not kid myself to think that I am better than anybody.

That being said, here's what I have to say, and this is how I honestly feel.. it rubs me the wrong way when a Christian is explaining the Gospel and focuses on eternal life and heaven (usually by talking about death and implicating fear) instead of focusing on restoration and reconciliation. While everything that is said is very true, it is truncated and it doesn't give a full picture of what the Gospel really is. I believe this is a big source of disconnect between the Gospel and those who don't follow Jesus, even if they are open to listening, because they are trying so hard to be thoughtful about where to place their faith (and rightly so), but what they hear simply doesn't make sense as is. I felt exactly this way growing up.

I've written prose about the Gospel and I've written poetry about it- tonight I created a diagram, for those who might resonate better with visuals. It's the foundation of who we are as Christians, and it drives all that we do. This is what I truly believe God's Gospel (a.k.a. Good News) is, and as much as possible this is how I try to explain it. I don't think you can talk about the Gospel without talking about the Kingdom- they go hand in hand. Feel free to take a look. Here are some Scriptures that back it up:http://projectredeem.webs.com/gospelnotes.htm

    God bless you.
