Wrote this poem for my son's upcoming dedication...

It’s been said that,
One of the greatest opportunities parents can claim,
To prophesy over the life of their child,
Is when they choose a name.
Yirmiyahu Jeremiah, “God will raise you up.”
1:5 you were no accident, you were born with a purpose,
Far from worthless you were purchased with the highest price.
See the sacrifice of Christ reconciles you back to God,
Back to your fellow man and back to all creation.
This is the Gospel and you’re a direct product of it.
So in the same way Yadon helped to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem,
1:10 we dedicate you as one who also restores- a builder of the new Jerusalem,
The Kingdom of God in and around you, seen and unseen,
Growing in its fullness and always advancing.
51:20, the Lord’s battle axe and weapon of war,
17:7 through 8, your identity always rooted with Him at the core.
29:11 to 13, from the very start a passage so close to Mommy and Daddy’s heart:
A promise, through even the difficult times, of God’s everlasting love and sovereignty,
And in context a reminder to represent Jesus appropriately:
Loving, not tolerating; not assimilating but not separating.
Like the prophet Jeremiah 1:6 to 8, be confident even in youth,
Learn to be passionate in all that you do,
Use your talents and skills for a higher purpose too.
And when the world crashes down on you 1:19, rest in His protection and rescue.
Your middle name Yadon comes from the Hebrew word “yadah”-
“To praise and worship with hands extended freely,”
Connotating a life of thanksgiving and gratitude, content and humility.
Yadon further means that our God upholds righteousness as Judge,
Yet offers forgiveness and healing through His Son’s blood.
Your names also keep the Jewish substance of our faith represented:
Historical roots, prophetic truth, and present relevance.
16:14 to 15, 32:27, 33:3, God’s amazing faithfulness always guaranteed.
Jeremiah, as we publicly dedicate you to the Lord,
May we as your parents be accountable in one accord,
In our desire and commitment to love you as our Heavenly Father loves us.
May we be your home base that continually teaches and encourages you
To R.E.S.E.T. in this legacy and directive:
To love God and love people,
And to constantly keep a Kingdom perspective.
Amen.
